Vessels

Activities by Consorci El Far deploy a fleet of boats for the range of projects it organises.

These are managed by the Traditional sailing school and provide support for educational programmes and citizens’ activities.

  • Far Barcelona

    The Far Barcelona is a Norwegian “jakt” built in 1874, in Hardanger (Norway) fiord. Her original name was Anne Dorthea and was dedicated to fish transport until 1975. She was restored at the Consorci El Far Shipyard on a marine trades vocational training project, involving more of 350 pupils. Her original design has been improved by the latest technology in communications, computing and safety, with wind and solar renewable power generation to comply with sustainability criteria.

  • Far Barceloneta

    The Far Barceloneta was built in 1915, at the Miquel Corbeto Shipyard in the Barceloneta quarter and was initially christened Norte. She is a ketch rigged yacht with main and mizzen masts.

    The Batllķ Canadell family acquired her in 1959 and kept her in operation until deciding to donate her to Consorci EL FAR for educational activities and awareness of maritime heritage.

  • Llaguts

    Far de Formentera

    Vessel used for traditional fishing on the Isle of Majorca. Originally owned by a family from Sa Pobla in Majorca, in 1991 it was ceded to Consorci EL FAR for restoration, through the Barcelona fes-te a la mar Association.

    Type: Majorcan Llagut, rigged with latin sail on main mast and jib.

    Far de Cabrera

    Traditional fishing boat from the Isle of Minorca that was ceded to Consorci EL FAR for restoration in 1991, through the Barcelona fes-te a la mar Association.
