Presentation

The Nautical projects department works on promotion of sporting and social events in order to boost this sector in a city with a notable maritime heritage.

Its action falls within the scope of the Strategic Plan for Sport drafted in 2002 by the Barcelona Sports Institute of the City Council of Barcelona. From its commencement, the aim of this Plan is to encourage and organise top level international sporting events in the city of Barcelona.

The Nautical projects department performs its activity through the Foundation for Oceanic Sailing of Barcelona –FNOB-, in which Consorci El Far plays a management and technical co-ordination role. Creation of the FNOB has allowed it to have a working platform formed by the City Council of Barcelona, the Trade Fair of Barcelona, the Port Authority of Barcelona and the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona.
