The Traditional Sailing School invites you to join in the new activities to know the sail training, as protagonist together with a professional crew that will allow you to discover the adventure of sailing.
Manoeuvring, being on watch, cleaning and even joining in the kitchen of the Far Barcelona, a Norwegian jakt of 1874, restored on the shipyard of Consorcio El Far.
You will enjoy nature, discover the coast and experiment new feelings. Come on board!

The award ceremony of IMOCA World Championship 2008 was held at the closing session of the General Assembly. The event was chaired by Pere Alcober, Delegate of Sports at Barcelona City Council, which highlighted the role that has the city in celebration of major races.
The schedule for next season includes the European Pro Tour and the Barcelona World Race, becoming Barcelona a key city in the world of ocean racing with monohulls.

Fundació Navegació Oceànica Barcelona (FNOB) organizes and hosts the first meeting that the regulatory body for monohulls class open ocean IMOCA holds outside France.
Holding its next General Assembly in Barcelona, Class IMOCA expresses his appreciation to the increasing development of the ocean navigation of competition in our country, and marks a symbolic beginning of the year of the second edition of the Barcelona World Race, which has provided leaving the 31st December 2010.

You are invited to participate in our new weekend activities on board the Far Barcelona, to experience traditional sailing.
The 2-3 day voyages, the latter with night sailing, include activities to discover the natural and cultural values of the coast between Barcelona, Palamós and Estartit.
We also present the Barcelona Consulates of the Sea Route, to be covered by the Far Barcelona from 26 July to 23 September, to re-enact the routes of the Catalan traders of old, stopping off at some of the ports hosted by the Middle Ages Consulates of the Sea institution, that was created when Barcelona was the capital of Crown of Aragon. This medieval institution is proof of the Catalan hegemony throughout the Mediterranean.
Voyage routes:
Route 1: Barcelona - Palamós - Barcelona.
Dates: 25 and 26 April; 13 and 14 June.
Route 2: Barcelona - Palamós - Medas Isles - Barcelona.
Dates: 17-18 and 19 April; 1, 2 and 3 May; 5, 6 and 7 June; 19,20 and 21 June.
The minimum age to participate is 14 years.
Barcelona Consulates of the Sea Route:
From Palma to Istanbul
Palma to Alguer: 26 July 1 August
Alguer to Catania: 2 to 8 August
Catania to Lavrion: 9 to 15 August
Lavrion to Istanbul: 16 to 23 August

On the 5th of January 2009, the Far Barcelona will transport the There Kings from the East on their arrival at Port Ginesta. That real journey under sail is the starting point of the official Christmas Parade organised by the City Council of Castelldefels. Consorci EL FAR wishes to collaborate, with its training ship, to bring all the children and families closer to their dreams.
The City Council of Castelldefels has called a competition to chose the best letter addressed to the Three Kings during the parade.
